Surefire.Sound - Sat 21st May @ Corsica Studios

Surefire.Sound
Saturday May 21st
Corsica Studios, London

Surefire.Sound’s third event in the capital is probably its strongest yet, bringing together a line-up that encompasses many different strands of the continually evolving bass music universe.

Headlining Room One is Shackleton, one of the most pioneering and forward thinking artists operating within electronic music today. Fresh from delivering his acclaimed Fabric CD as well as new music on Honest Jon’s, he will bring his unique brand of bass heavy atmospherics to the intimate surroundings of Corsica Studios for what will be a very special set indeed. Joining him will be Mark Ernestus, founder and owner of Berlin’s Hardwax record store as well as cutting edge artist in his own right. With Moritz Von Oswald he was responsible for legendary productions as Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound, records that helped shape the sound of dub techno music.

Other artists on the night will include Toki Monsta, Eprom and DJG, delivering the sounds of west coast America to the heart of the UK, as well as Addison Groove doing his live 808 thang in the Juke Box once more and one extremely special, top secret guest to be announced!

Kuedo - Svetlana Industries Mix

Some more audio treats for you lucky people in the shape of Kuedo's new 'Shortcast' for Svetlana Industries. Covering some wonky beats and some straight up dirty Hip-Hop it's something a bit different from what you might expect but shows a brilliant diversity from this innovative artist.

Release-wise, this year there will be a Kuedo remix EP coming out on Planet Mu, a remix for King Midas Sound on Hyperdub, and a debut Kuedo album in late summer / autumn. Keep your eyes and ears to the ground people....

"Kuedo a.k.a. Jamie Vex'd started soldiering a long time ago, manufacturing beautiful serious urban atmospheres as half of Vex'd, dropping the seminal album 'Degenerate' into the dubstep protoverse as long ago as 2005.

His extraordinary pitchbendariffic remix for Scuba saw him enter new territory as a solo artist, which he marked with a hugely significant mixtape for Lucky me - 25. Jamie Vex'd - Sunday Walkman Mix. This was followed by an EP for Planet Mu as Jamie Vex'd and a second as Kuedo marking more fully his transition to solo artist.

He and Roly (the other half of Vex'd) do still collaborate but they are now divided by sea and Jamie's music is growing into its own personality. Rumours of an album are abroad and we eagerly await it. In the meantime this mix is gully and massive. One of the builders of the scene who still seems like everything is to come. Show your love to the man. "

George FitzGerald - Sonic Router Mix & Interview

Sonic Router showing some more love to another member of the Surefire family, George FitzGerald, who recently stopped by for an interview. He was kind enough to put together a rather tasty mix to go with it so have a listen to that below and then head over to the Sonic Router site for a read of what the man with a capital G had to say for himself.

Photek - UFO (Addison Groove's Almost Headhunter Remix)

If his current 12"s on Swamp81, Tectonic & 3024 weren't enough, Addison Groove has appeared on wax once more with his remix of Photek's 'UFO'. No doubt you will know that Photek is one of the most revered Drum & Bass producers in history but he has recently emerged with a new sound based loosely around the 140bpm UK bass music template (if there is actually such a thing).

Addison Groove turns his track UFO, originally a razor sharp slice of forward thinking jungle, into a hypnotic, pulsating, 808 infused techno/dubstep groove. This really doesn't fit neatly into any categories at all however, so just listen and make your own mind up. We promise you won't be disappointed...

If you're feeling flush, then go forth and purchase!
